All the property was devided in 16 tracts and sold at auction in 1998. It was attended by media and many bidders. Williams & Williams was the auction Company. Besides land being auction there were a lot of other items. Computers, home furnishings, farm equipments, tools, lots of satelites, you name it, it must have been there. There was one building that had fell into a pit that was auctioned as scrap. Later in the pit there was a door that led to an office about 12 feet down. All of that has been buried and covered over. Liability reasons I’m sure. Now the property has homes, ranches, cattle and others occuping it. We are one of them. We were told that Steath protypes were once tested there. Anyway the property has an interesting history.

The airstrip mentioned near Walnut Springs at one time was a testing facility for General Dynamics. I know someone who worked there years ago and he said that, when he was hired for ground maintainence duties, he was told that anytime someone with a black badge was seen by him, he was to leave the area and not speak to them. He also said that one of the large buildings was equipped with a lift that raised the entire building from the foundation but wasn’t aware of why or what it was used for. At one time, there was a tower at the top of the hill behind the buildings that may have been used to test radar readings from different materials. Sometimes there was what looked like a cut-out shaped like a helicopter mounted on the tower. Over the years, there have been stories repeated in the town of Morgan telling of odd things being seen in the night skies and rumors of what may have been tested at the facility – such as the stealth prototypes – but no real media attention was ever drawn to the area other that a few articles possibly printed in a local paper. Rumors also circulated a few years ago that the property had been at least partially sold to one or more individuals.
