Welcome to UFO update ……
Whats happening around the UFO world, in August 2008 (mainly articles that have caught my eye)……
Well we start with Kob.com ” Socorro makes claim as UFO destination ” (posted on 8th august, 2008 – which also includes a video ) .
“Some in city hall want to put up a plaque or a marker at the site. The town’s tourism chief says people come through town asking about the Socorro Incident and where it happened” (extract from article).
The KXVO.com has a similar themed article “ X-file Odysseys” (posted august 2008; not sure of date); i love this extract though “But traveling to see a saucer crash site or an alien-themed attraction is also an excuse to visit some of the strangest places on the planet. And, in some cases, speak with some of the strangest people” (extract from article).
The oakland tribune had an interesting article on 1st August entitled ” Give ‘em hill:seeing (blips) is believing “.
” Well, some were British. Others were from Belgium. Peru, Turkey, Canada and Mexico. There were scientists, researchers and former high-ranking military people from all over the world — this world, as far as we know — who have themselves witnessed unexplained phenomena, or have evidence of proof of weird stuff that really happened someplace and have been interviewed by Larry King to boot….[.]….. And now there’s some actual corroborating evidence. About UFOs. We’re still waiting on the Cheney thing. Remember the Stephenville, Texas, sightings back on Jan. 8 that made national headlines and Larry King? More than 50 witnesses reported a huge, silent, low-flying craft with bright lights hovering, then streaking through the sky. You know, the usual. Ho hum.
But this time there’s proof — actual blips on Federal Aviation Administration radar! ” (extracts from article). This is significant, as usually this type of information was not forthcoming, until now.
At the York Daily Record ” Did this York Countyman really see a UFO ? ” (posted 4th August 2008 )
“It was between 10:30 and 11 p.m. when he saw it in the southern sky as he was driving. He looks at the sky a lot, having an interest in the heavens, and he could tell immediately that what he saw was something he hadn’t seen before.
It was a group of bright orbs, much brighter than the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, the Dog Star. They weren’t planets; they weren’t in a part of the sky that any planet would appear in. He didn’t know what they were.
They hovered, in a kind of V-shape, and turned around. They weren’t moving ” (extract from article). It was also seen by his wife and son; He soon decided to try and find out if it could be explained by an IFO, by checking sateillite positions, ect. He came up with a blank. His final solution was to tell MUFON; he does say that what he saw was a UFO (unidentified) but thats it.
Gather.com reports on ” Eyewitness News Report: Glowing UFO crash Near California ” (posted 2nd August)
“On May 14th the Eyewitness News Channel 8 reported a large object with a turquoise hue plummeting out of the sky earlier this summer and plowed into the Earth south of Las Vegas. At HBCC UFO research, there is ” Canadian UFO sighting reports – 289 reported sightings as of August 16th, 2008 ” (posted 16th august 2008 )

macon.com ” Alabama town celebrates UFO past with family Festival “
“Fyffe, a city of less than 1,000, is holding its fourth annual Unforgettable Family Outing or UFO Days on Friday and Saturday.
A mini-industry sprung up in Fyffe after the sightings in early 1989, which had hundreds of people showing up to gaze into the night sky in search of flying saucers” (extract from article).

Los Angeles Times ” In the Nevada desert, there’s something out there — the black mailbox ”
“TIKABOO VALLEY, NEV. — The only landmark for about 40 miles on a barren stretch of highway is a mailbox battered by time and desert gusts. It’s known as the Black Mailbox, though it’s actually a faded white…[.]…..Some think the mailbox is linked to nearby Area 51, a military installation and purported hotbed of extraterrestrial activity. At the very least, they consider the box a prime magnet for flying saucers ” (extracts from article).
Round Town News (RTN Costa Blanca Free newspaper) ” Is there anyone out there ? ” ( last updated 21st august )
“A couple from Daya Vieja are convinced that there is something out there, after they and several other witnesses saw an unexplained bright light fly through the night’s sky two weeks ago. The UFO sighting was spotted on Monday 4th August by a man on his solarium in the small village of Daya Vieja. Ray Stevens, originally from Rugby, noted the time and watched as the ‘pure bright light’ came across the sky towards him, then made a sharp left and continued towards the coast line before disappearing suddenly, down towards the ground” (extract from article).

“If the truth is indeed out there, Sam Maranto has the evidence. As director of the Illinois branch of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), Maranto’s job, like a real-life Agent Mulder, is to investigate the validity of the UFO sightings that pour into Orland Park–based MUFON and the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) in Davenport, Washington, every day ” (extract from article).
