MOD releases 8 UFO files, ready to download **[info released may14th]

Posted by dandare on May 14, 2008

As is mentioned in my post here , the first batch of UK UFO files can be downloaded from the National Archives “Newly released UFO files from the UK government“(posted 14th may,2008 ) . Please make sure you download these as soon as possible, as they are free to download for now, but this will not be the case after some time.

An excellent article/post from uk-ufo.org can be seen here (well worth a look).

David clarke has “British X-filesopen at National archives“ (well worth a look).

As you can see, there is large scale interest in this by the media, and i’m sure there are more links to other newspaper, media coverage…

I’m sorry this is a brief account of what is important news from the MOD…. i am still short on time, but hope to resume blogging as soon as i can…. so sorry in advance.

I will, when i get back to a normal service, go in depth about this, and analyse and so on.

Also all sources/articles will be placed on my UK ufo sightings posting for may…. i’m afraid i have not done so yet.

I felt it was better to have a quick page, to alert anyone who does not know that this is available.

Sorry for gap in the post, i cannot seem to correct the problem…..

Uk UFO sightings (march 2008)

Posted by dandare on March 16, 2008

276px-uk-map.pngI am following the Uk ufo sightings every month….. however, as i have said before, i am not sure what value they are to any UFO research.

Many of the sightings are sensationalised, with usually alot of information missing. Please keep this in mind as you view these postings from the local press. I will try to add updates (mainly just links to articles) at the end of this article for this month, as and when they arrive.

I will be adding information about MOD links, near the end of this article as well.

Many local newspapers, are more interested in being ‘the UK hot spot’ of the year/moment,ect than anything else.

In halifaxcourier.co.uk, (posted 15th march,2008) “County is UFO hotspot“…. this was done by Virgin media with ufo data back to 1994 (study researched by Nick Pope- i would like to know where he pulled the data from; this is not added).

Therefore west yorkshire boasts, that it is the UK UFO hotspot, and i am assuming Nick Pope took data from the MOD ufo files that are readily available online; the telegraphandargus.co.uk (this is for bradford area) reaffirms this fact in “Keep your eyes to the skies” (posted 15th march,2008). However, this article claims that there were sightings in this area ….34 in the last 40 years (so 1994 as the last article suggested, is not right), and many above Bradford, apparently according to this article. From the virgin media site here , it mentions the data goes as far back as 1961.

In the dailyrecord.co.uk (scottish news) it boasts that “Lanarkshire is Scotlands UFO capital” (posted 15th march,2008). I think you can see the aims of all these articles…. again it is for the same virgin media study.

Lancashire, who probably feel a bit soar at coming third, with Yorkshire on the top of this list, still write in the lep.co.uk (lancashire news) “Lancashire is hot-spot for flying saucers” (posted 16th march,2008). At least it admits its motives, as it mentions that Nick Pope recommends Lancashire as a place to visit to possibly see ufos (or as they say”to spot a little green man”).

alienss.jpg

So are we talking bragging rights, extra tourism, and so on…. possibly; maybe, its also to sell some more papers. Also, what i find frustrating is where the data comes from…does it just come from one source, the MOD, and if so, should it also include other data; also, should there be more than one researcher on this, collorating the results?

In the granthamjournal.co.uk “Gonerby UFO sighted over Saskatchewan” (posted 13th march,2008). There is a basic drawing of the UFO, and the Gonerby sightings draws (no pun intended) parallels with a Canadian sighting at Saskatchewan, which was seen in 2005. For interest, you can also see previos UFO sightings reported by this paper here.

The same paper also has “Reader tries to pass off fake UFO picture“  (5th march,2008).

In the bedfordtoday.co.uk there are two articles in the month of march “Mysterious goings-on in luton skies leave onlookers baffled” (posted 6th march,2008) and “plenty more UFO sightings to report in Luton area“ (posted 13th march,2008). The first one is  standard faire (for the local papers), and the second is a extraterrestrial versus skeptical counter argument article. For previous ufo sightings that the paper has done, see here .

In the Islingtongazette.co.uk (posted 11th march,2008) “MOD inquiry into Archway UFO mystery” , covers the sighting from a year ago, and what has happened since… It says

Now the Gazette can reveal that top level government agencies looked into the phenomenon – which many believe was nothing more than floating Chinese lanterns.
The Gazette sent a Freedom of Information request to the Ministry demanding to see every document relating to the Archway incident, as well as a total cost of the investigation
” (extract from article).

For just a daft, alleged alien encounter see “The moment when aliens decided to land in enfield” Posted 4th march,2008 by enfieldindependant.co.uk).

For another just daft article, “Alien doctors treated my cystitis” (posted 7th march,2008), by hartlepoolmail.co.uk. I’m soo going to believe this…and the woman being interviewed is writing a book about it to boot. ………………………..next please.

I’m afraid many also fail to follow up on their initial leads, and many reports just remain forgotten.

ufo-online3.jpg

The MOD will soon (similar to the french)  release more UFO files for public viewing, from this spring onwards; please see my previous post for more details at     http://dandare.wordpress.com/2007/12/23/mod-to-start-releasing-ufo-files-spring-2008/ (please bare in mind that some of the links to the MOD are not working, due to them moving and adding to them, and therefore moving the links).

I have added some below for you to see…. contrary to what you may have been led to believe by the media, there is already quite a bit out online. This is just a taster of what you can see for yourself from the MOD site.

Requests for information about UFOs recieved in january 2005

Also UFO search results on the site here

UFO reports 1997-2007

UAP in the UK region

Please also take a look at http://www.uk-ufo.org/condign/index.htm which has an invaluable resource on the MOD, especially on what is coming out this spring……especially the link http://www.uk-ufo.org/condign/di55docs.html

MORE UPDATES WILL BE REPORTED BELOW HERE  (just as links to the sites involved, unless really interesting).

c_71_article_1039964_image_list_image_list_item_0_image.jpg (illustration of Jodrell bank, UK; not part of these articles)

UPDATE : 17th March,2008

Shropshirestar.com has “Shropshire hotspot for UFO sightings” (posted 17th march,2008) with an interactive map included. (for same virgin media poll).

thisisplymouth.co.uk “City is tops for UFO sightings” (posted 17th march,2008). slightly misleading there i feel; and yes for same poll.

Oops… almost missed this article from the bbc.co.uk (scotland/tayside and central) ”MOD releases secret files on UFOs” (posted 4th march,2008).

Louthleader.co.uk has an interesting article on “More earthquake light sightings” (posted 11th march,2008).

A follow up article (from the same paper)  “International interest for leader lightning story” (posted 17th march,2008). also has some good links to other articles on the same lines, including the timesonline ….. worth taking a note of this phenomena, as it is still relatively unknown (includes lightning reations and ball lightning). Could this account for some UFO sightings?

 UPDATE: 18th march,2008

Buryfreepress.co.uk, has “Bury named UFO ‘hot spot’ “ (posted 18th march,2008)… similar faire for virgin media poll.

Also (for same poll) eadt.co.uk- suffolk and essex online has “Suffolk ranks highly for UFO sightings” (posted 18th march,2008).

thisislincolnshire.co.uk has a further article on the earthquake lights “Did UFO lights herald lincolnshire earthquake?” (posted 18th march,2008). Is there something in this… i think there possibly could be.

UPDATE 19th march:

The granthamjournal.co.uk has “UFO could be top secret plane” (posted 19th march,2008); this is linked to, and a follow-on post to    “Gonerby UFO sighted over Saskatchewan” (posted 13th march,2008)- which was added above.

In metro.co.uk it mentions ”Proof that aliens are out there” (posted 17th march,2008-almost missed this article). Again it is proof that, not all you see on google earth, is actually what you see (if you know what i mean).

ufo-online3.jpg

Birminghammail.net has “Birmingham named ‘weirdest place’ ” (posted 14th march,2008-again almost missed).. this also includes UFOs.

UPDATE: 21st march,2008

At virginmedia.com, they pick up on the earthlights phenomena “Expert probes earthquake lights“ (no date shown, but posted within the last 2 days).

The sunderlandecho.com mentions the virgin poll again (the same as those above) in “You’re not alone in County Durham“ (posted 20th march,2008).

Falkirkherald.co.uk mentions “Bonnybridge UFO claim” (posted 20th march,2008) ; the witness said “By the shape of it there was no way it was a plane. It looked oval shaped with flashing lights all around it, so we got out the van to have a look.
“After hovering for a while, it then just shot up into the sky and the speed it was going was phenomenal
” (extract from article).

sasclothbadge.jpg

thisislancashire.co.uk (again on the virgin poll) has “Lancashire and the UFOs” (posted 21st march,2008).

UPDATE 25th:

yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk has a very small mention of the UFO virgin poll (4 lines), in “A barmy way to save cash” (posted 22nd march,2008)…however the rest of the article is about something completely different.

** From theargus.co.uk… one of the worst ufo sightings video Ever in “UFO caught on camera in Sussex“ (posted 23rd march, 2008). The video is well, at best hillarious!

bakewelltoday.co.uk has “UFO sighting in Peak District Village” (posted 21st march,2008…sorry only recently found). It mentions “Sightings of orange lights over Litton have left residents baffled.
Ray Frost, who reported his February 24 sighting on the internet, said: “I think it was a UFO
” (extract from article).

alien-2.jpg

kentonline.co.uk , in (i think) “welcome to kent” (posted 21st march,2008), there are a whole series of different short topics discussed…. what we are after is ”STRANGE happenings from crabs falling from the sky to UFOs have earned the county a place in the top 10 of the UK’s Twilight Zone Hotspots, according to Disneyland Resort Paris” (extract from article). Nothing more is added.

The eveningtimes.co.uk has that Virgin UFO poll in “Glasgows UFO Fan Club” (posted 24th march,2008)… It says “Believe it or not, Glasgow has been named the UFO capital of Scotland.

The city has stolen the title from Bonnybridge, which for decades has been abuzz with reported sightings of alien spacecraft.

Glasgow is the only location in Scotland to make the Virgin Media Files, a specially compiled list of Britain’s top 10 places for spotting UFOs” (extract from article). and….”Glasgow’s tourism and civic leaders welcomed the news that inter-galactic tourists are seemingly flocking to the city” (extract from article).
UPDATE: 27th march, 2008

From the northantset.co.uk, there are 2 short posts “UFO spotted over Corby” (26th march, 2008)….. mmmm.

And “Latest UFO news in from India“ (27th march, 2008)…..i think this short post is summed up most aptly by the only person to comment….

That’s actually an IFO. It is a male Danaid_Eggfly. See photo here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danaid_Eggfly
Come on folks. Stop wasting our time with reflections, bugs, and other fake ufos. If you have something truly extraordinary then show it. Please don’t make it difficult for serious UFO researchers
“. Couldn’t have said it better.

clipart_scifi_spaceships_003.gif

wigantoday.net has “UFO spotted in Wigan” (27th march, 2008) amd also has a video from cell phone… to be honest could be anything? (also earlier post i noticed…virgin poll again…”We’re a UFO hotspot“-20th march, 2008 ).

From the granthamjournal.co.uk (27th march, 2008) it has “More UFO theories“; it states near the end “He said: “You dont want to see a space craft!. It’s just not worth the many lonely nights of siliently weeping and wondering to myself BECAUSE the goverment won’t confirm what I know to be true

“I CAN’T TAKE THE LIES ANYMORE“” (extract from article).

Rest assured, i am not lonely, crying, ect just more determined to find the truth (although some quite clearly think i’m nuts/a kook, ect……oh well things are looking up).

Huge rise in British UFO sightings in 2007… maybe not?

Posted by dandare on February 9, 2008

Photobucket

According to several media outlets, there is a large surge in British ufo phenomena. In the telegragh.co.uk  it states that there is a “huge rise in British UFO sightings“ (posted 8th February,2008).

It mentions “Clusters of up to 100 mysterious objects, bright white lights and strange, triangular shaped objects are just some of a huge surge in UFO sightings reported to the Ministry of Defence last year” (extract from article).

Unfortunately (and sorry to say this) i am unimpressed… yes the British have had some good sightings, but quite a few have been chinese lanterns/IFOs.

Also it states two things, which i seem to remember, it has repeated before about the MOD (apart from calling it the X files, yuck).

Firstly, that the MOD have for the first time, archived sightings running back to 1998 (wrong- its been ‘out there’ for a quite a while); secondly, i do not consider a huge rise in ufo sightings, from 97 in 2006 to 135 in 2007. Do you?

Luckily, it does go on to say, that alot of the sightings can be explained- phew. But the big media papers in Britain seem to be saying the same things, year on year.

Photobucket

Others have also followed with this story; the independant “Uk sightings on the rise” (posted 8th february,2008). Luckily this article, says it is on the rise…. this article is shorter, but slightly better written.Of course, the sun had to get in the act as well with “Uk sightings in Britain rocket“ (posted 8th february,2008). It starts off reasonably well, for the sun (although the heading of course is way off the mark) but soon nose dives…. still insisting that the Falmouth object is a UFO, when it is clearly a seagull (please try to ignore the photos as well); the only saving grace, was that the article was short.

The thaindian.com (repeats  similar article to the rest) but now its “absolutely enormous rise in ufo sightings in the UK“ (posted 8th february,2008).

I’m sorry to sound negative, but the mainstream media seem to like to repeat the same old garbage, again and again, with no regard to the subject at all (there are occassional exceptions however). We’ll be back to little green men, again soon?

As the MOD are about to release “the ‘X’ files“ this spring, i dread to think what the headings and titles from some of these papers will be …….any guesses?  how about “X-files are XXX rated”.

Am i over re-acting? are these articles actually telling us anything at all? Do i hate The sun?

Ufo Update

Posted by dandare on January 13, 2008

Welcome to this weeks Update..

ufos

The first article to catch my eye (not sure what the other one was doing) was “UFO allegedly splashed down in Kazakhstan ” (posted 8th january 2008). The event was on the 5th january 2008, and the witness was from the local police, who saw “a shining flying object falling into the river” (extract from article). Divers searched the area, but found nothing.

This is old news, but i thought i’d just sneek it in here, “Father of sci-fi rekindles alien debate” (december 17th,2007; ABC news).

We are back to the headlines of the green men variety again; “At last, the truth about little green men “ (posted 7th january 2008; telegragh.co.uk ). It mentions that we might learn much about what really happened over the Rendlesham Forest incident…. but as i have said before, this is already out and available on the MOD site for all to see. See Here for the MOD files. There is also a suffolk police file available here .

BlueRidgeNow.com (posted 11th january 2008) states “Include me with UFO believers“.

In shieldsgazette.com (posted 9th january 2008) another mature article can be read at “why is Sunderland a UFO hotspot“…. as far as i was concerned, i didn’t know it was? It covers the same old ”stuff” on ufos..sorry unimpressed.

Photobucket

Wired.com covers “Lake Erie UFOs are Stars on You Tube” (posted 11th january 2008); it mentions “Waves of UFO sightings over the waters of Lake Erie are earning the great lake a reputation as a UFO hot spot. But the lake’s new popularity may have more to do with a string of popular videos on YouTube than sightings of little green men” (extract from article). A telling comment, at the end of this article, which is true of alot of sightings says:

“”The problem is anyone can post anything and call it a UFO, a ghost, but there’s no filter,” he says. “You don’t know if that person has a history of hoaxes or mental illness. What happens is a real case is drowned out by a sea of hoaxes, mistakes or misidentifications”" (extract from article). I’m afraid to some extent that is true, although alot of witnesses generally believe, what they see is a UFO, but with a little investigation, this ufo (quite alot of the time) changes into an IFO.

The heraldtribune.com has an interesting article entitled “The Limits of Liberalism?” (posted 11th january,2008); it also has a good article “Everything old is old again“ (posted 10th january,2008), in which it talks about the MOD releasing ufo files… It basically is saying that journalists fail to realise that alot of the information, for the well known cases, like rendlesham forest, are already available to read (see earlier telegragh article, above, for a typical example of this).

tcpalm.com has “Dom Armentano: Intelligent extraterrestrial life: The other inconvenient truth?“ (posted 8th january,2008).

stockportexpress.com reports on “Did you spot any out of this world visitors?” (posted 9th january,2008)… again it seems, that they were chinese lanterns, especially as this was reported on new years day (and the descriptions given for them). One witness was so adament that they were ufos that he said

“They were moving across and not up, and if they were lanterns I’d have thought they’d be moving upwards,” he said. “And they were definitely round.” (extract from article). I’m afraid he’s wrong on that one?

Website of the week:

http://www.ufomystic.com/index.php A great website, full of interesting information..

Quote of the week:

The journalists seem to be using the phrase “Little green men” like there is no tommorrow; a term i particularly dislike; i have a feeling it will not go out of fashion any time soon.

This is the new look Update; do you prefer this format?  (although i will be doing a couple more articles, about the origins of some more photos soon, anyway).

Ufo Update

Posted by dandare on January 7, 2008

Hello and welcome to this weeks updates…..

ufos

Remember, not long ago, we had the “Dorito” ufo, well the same local newspaper has another catchy (not) article entitled “Mystery arrowhead UFO spotted” (posted 3rd january 2008 – although for a minute, i thought it had something to do with Alien Archeaology). It mentions

”Householders described the object as looking like an “arrowhead” with three orange lights arranged in the shape of an isosceles triangle”(extract from article); oh well, at least the headlines are becoming quite entertaining…. cannot wait for the next one!

Photobucket

hfxnews has “Lots of speculation, still no explaination for ufo” (posted 4th january 2008); it says that “A video of an object trailing a dark, spiralling plume behind it and plummeting toward Prince Edward Island’s Northumberland Strait remains the focus of intense speculation” (extract from article). The incident took place on 29th december,2007.

stealth

We are back to standard reported articles again; in the eveningleader.co.uk it reports “More people report seeing UFOs flying over county” (posted 4th january,2008). They are all of the orange light variety, and give mention to quite a few different witness accounts. I’ll leave this up to you, as to what you think these are.

ufo online

The eveningleader is back again (7th january 2008) with “Residents line up to confirm UFO sightings“; what makes me smile, about alot of these type of reports, is that they all categorically say, that they are teatotal or did not have a drop to drink at all….

Photobucket

Fox6.com has “Could the UFO in the San Diego skies be sky lanterns?”  (3rd january 2008).

Photobucket

The observer has “The truth is out: X-Files go public” (6th january 2008)…..with no mention of Nick Pope in the whole article… Basically if you are unaware the ufo files held by the MOD will become available to the public (online) starting from spring 2008; but will take 3 years to complete.

Photobucket

In theargus.co.uk “Ufo spotted zooming over downs” (3rd january 2008)…. its back to the mention of “little green men”…… they say it might have been similar to that seen in cornwall (i’m pretty sure they do not mean of the feathered kind, sighted by ”the sun newspaper”).  Not much to go on in this post.

Photobucket

Northantset.co.uk claims “Amazing ufo footage” (2nd january 2008), but i wouldn’t hold your breath on this one however.

Also in the news

countywidenews.com has “Will a new year bring new visitors” (3rd january 2008).

We have at Associated Content “UFOs, spirits and mind control” (7th january 2008).

Lastly, “Explore alien worlds at Catawba science centre” (2nd january 2008).

Photobucket

MOD to release UFO files, from Spring 2008 onwards

Posted by dandare on December 23, 2007

uk and part of europe
As was mentioned in my post in late April 2007: (see below…april post in red)

Researcher Dave Clarke’s persistance has paid off, in what looks like the unlocking of British UFO files (declassifiation), hidden away by the MOD….. The files (around 7000) cover over 30 years of data on ufo’s. This will be as significant as the opening up of files from the French government recently…..i can hardly wait…

please see Nick Redfern’s article on this, and also from David Clarke .

This will be a  real breakthrough if it happens as promised; they will add electronic information on ufo’s on their website later this year. Link to defence internet FOI .

I would like to thank all those involved in achieving this…..  :)

ufo rendlesham forest

(Illustration above of Rendlesham forest)

Today, the telegraph has mentioned that the “MOD to open British UFO X-files“; it seems that

“The Ministry of Defence will release a total of 160 files dating back to that time to the National Archives in Kew.

The first files will be made available in Spring 2008 and the process is expected to take three years” (extract from article).

Later on it goes on to say”"A Ministry of Defence spokeswoman confirmed the documents would be released from next year. “There has always been a great deal of interest in this subject,” she said”" (extract from article).

This is good news indeed……. i suspect that the spring deadline will not be met, but it seems the files will be coming out.   :)

F-15

More related information can be seen here  and also here (very interesting information***) and confirms this.

Those people, who doggedly requested MOD files/information, must be thanked for their efforts, particularly Gary Anthony, Dave Clark and Joe McGonagle)… of course, these will be those ufo files they admit to having?

Also of interest :

The truth is out there…..under FOI” (article from the MOD site, dated 10th may,2006).

Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP)in the UK Air Defence Region – Result of internal review” (from MOD site; links to other UAP posts on right hand side).

ufo reports 1998 -2006 in the UK” (MOD site)

Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) in the UK Defence Region” (you’ve guessed it, the MOD site; as you will find, alot crossed out/deleted due to section 26).

Thanks to uk-ufo.org for first alerting me to this.

 :)

UPDATE: 14th may….. please see http://dandare.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/mod-releases-8-ufo-files-ready-to-download-info-released-may14th/ for release of files….

DOCUMENTARY + GOVERNMENT RECORDS ON UFOs

To kick us off, there is a handy link to Area 51 (groom lake), from FAS (Federation of American Scientists): http://www.fas.org/irp/overhead/groom.htm  It goes into detail about the imagery available, an overview of the area, handy links to other sites (some now are not working), and images of Area 51 through the years, near the bottom of the article. It seems to have been written in 2000, but still handy for anyone interested in this topic.   Imagery of groom lake can be seen here .

The full condign report can be found here (on the MOD site, 32 files).

Blue Book Archive this is where you can view project blue book on the internet. A valuable resource, it is still ongoing….  it has uncensored microfilm releases, download facility for reports and information about the documents (at this time 10 rolls of film, that are uncensored have been made available).

UFO ORGANISATIONS:

NICAP (National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena), has a wealth of information on UFOs, and is an excellent site.

CUFON (The Computer UFO Network) who “…..strive to present material relating to UFO phenomena and the search for UFO-related government documents obtained through official channels in a fair and accurate manner” (extract from webpage). Of great interest is the link to verified documents and other documents. In the special reports link, there is a good link to reading available. An article on “Do nuclear facilities attract ufos?”  is worth looking at too.

MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), also is great for ufo insights/knowledge; articles on Famous UFO cases, UFO weather maps and UFO fast facts too name but a few things on this  site.

CUFOS (Centre for UFO Studies) “The Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) is an international group of scientists, academics, investigators, and volunteers dedicated to the continuing examination and analysis of the UFO phenomenon”. Many articles can be found here. My favourites are “we know where you live?” and government ufo documents on the internet .

NUFORC (National UFO Reporting Centre). I usually refer to the Latest ufo reports for information- very handy; there of course, is other good links on this site.

bufora UFO information, mainly to do with Europe…not kept up to date; quite a few ufologists do not hold favour with the organisation, and i can see their point of view.

UFO BLOGS:

Stanton Friedman used to be a nuclear physicist, but became very interested in UFO’s from 1958. Goes into great detail about why he believes UFO’s are visiting earth, but covers other areas as well.

UFO UPDATE

At Warminster, the Wiltshire times (posted 30th August,2007) states “ Skywatchers returned to the hills of warminster at the weekend, 30 years after a 100-strong vigil was held by those hoping to catch a glimpse of an infamous UFO”.

At About.com…there are  ”Oblong-shaped UFOs over Orillio” (posted 29th August, 2007)  there is a link in this short article to images of the ufos ; also from the same site the MOD gets a mention, in “More MOD Files“ (posted 27th August 2007).

In the internet edition gazette (basingstoke-posted 30th august,2007), “mum and daughter are latest to see alien visit“… the sighting took place on the 12th august.

In the comments section of this article a good point is made…

”Have these sightings been reported to any UFO group(s) in Hampshire to investigate. Surely, if there is not an investigation at ground roots rather than just publishing the reports in the Newspaper, then the sighting can not be properly validated?”

In New Zealand,(stuff.co.nz, posted 29th august,2007) ” Ufo spotted near Kaitaia baffles experts, and  “Dr Maccabee has not commented on whether the photographer may have manipulated the eight photos, says Ms Hansen….[.]While the UFO group cannot rule out the possibility of manipulation, she thinks it is unlikely the photos are a hoax”.

At forgetomori.com (posted 29th august,2007) ” georgia shoots at ufo, really a russian satellite“.

This last week, i was alerted to “1952 year of the ufo” by Bruce Maccabee… it goes into great detail, and Macabee’s analysis of this watershed is a long read but is fascinating, informative, and essential for understanding how the coverup took widespread (and, from the point of view of ufology, almost fatal) root. At the end, it says

“We have wasted a lot of time trying to find ABSOLUTE PROOF, when sufficient evidence has been available since 1952. Time to wake up and figure out where we go from here!”

Very interesting, and a new area for me… maybe need to look into this/research some more…. definately has opened my eyes.

July’s ufo map from MUFON is available here; also slightly different, but a quick resource is UFOMaps.EU …. at this site there is a map of europe, click on a particular part and you have google ufo links from that country….

What’s wrong with the UFO image (of the alien kind)?

Posted by dandare on August 19, 2007

Recently, especially in the United Kingdom, there has been alot written about “little green men”, “the real x-files” and so on (the usual phrases crop up). It has been in relation to the recent sightings at daily mail  (on stratford upon avon), “orange lights spark big ufo mystery” from Herts-Essex news ……… to name but a few.

They do seem to be chinese latterns or ufo balloons due to their images on video (however, i could be wrong), but even so the same rhetoric comes out.

UFO’s were kept in the spotlight for some time after these events in 2007, with the supposed MOD releasing files for regions all over the UK (not true as the MOD website has this online, website found here)…..Examples  Oxford  , Lothian , Bicester Advertiser , This is Nottingham  , This is Wiltshire , Fife and Aldershot to name but a few.

This is nothing new of course, as this subject, has always been given this type of response from the media throughout the world, and people in general who just laugh it off.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket<—will we be forever going round in circles?

Will this ever change? i fear not for the distant future, which is a shame, although the world of ufology has to take some of the blame, with alot of ill informed and clearly rediculous assumtions being made.

The only way forward is for ufologists to try to analysis the sightings in more depth; for instance the latest Haiti ufo video was clearly a fake (please go to abovetopsecret forum  for in-depth debate/discussion on the video’s)…. however, just saying it is a fake is clearly not enough, it needs to be backed up with evidence (or admitting that you are not sure ).

However, it has been argued, why waste your time with these types of cases, giving it what it wants, and that is recognition/promotion, and so giving others the idea of creating more types on you tube….where would it end?

Ok, maybe that is a bad example, but for instance, the O’hare incident was reported on in great detail by NARCAP (The full report can be found here), and was looked at in depth with many witness statements… This is clearly beyond the capabilities of most ufologists but they must analysis as much as they can……

Then we come to the skeptics…..The important sightings are the ones that resist all reasonable explanations. The problem, of course, is to define ‘reasonable’. It appears that the skeptics assume that almost any explanation is ‘reasonable’, even if it conflicts with one or more acceptable details of the sightings.

Others ask, why bother with reporting on ufo sightings at all, it helps no one; however, to analyse and pick up any relevant information (and to try to help answer witnesses who see these things and want answers) i feel this quickly answers this question?
I’ll touch on this subject in detail, in a later article (this is just briefly touching the subject) but we must still try to report about sightings out there, try to analysis, and leave it up to the reader to make up their own minds.

And to those who think i’m some kind of “nutcase”, i would like too ask them, if they saw something in the sky which could not be explained, would they not want to know what it was?

please see The black vault here , which is trying to collect as much information on the subject as possible;  also see http://www.stantonfriedman.com/ and the article “The ufo why questions? which is excellent, CFI here  and CIA documents on flying saucers .

Another article can be seen here (written in 2005), which mentions that on the whole ufology is not funded in any way, and therefore is limited (among other things)…. it has a point there (many do this as a hobby/spare time persuit and so this is always going to hinder them).

I think the key is to keep an open mind..
