UK UFO Sightings [ January 2009] Updated Regularly

Posted by dandare on January 18, 2009

sealukufosightings2009

I will try and keep this up to date, with all information from the UK.

Please check back from time to time, as this will be updated regularly…If you see something that i have missed, please contact me (thanks).….

There has been an explosion of UK UFO activity this year, this became even more prominent, after the Sun (tabloid UK newspaper) released a story of an alleged UFO hitting the conisholme wind turbine; this might account for the media clamouring for our attention (how much of it is fact, is frankly anyone’s guess), and also the public looking at the sky more than normal.

Many of the sightings are sensationalised, with usually alot of information missing.

ufo-hefe-label-2007Please keep this in mind as you view these postings from the local and national press.

I’m afraid many also fail to follow up on their initial leads, and many reports just remain forgotten.

Some incidents could be UFO balloons (please see:  https://dandare.wordpress.com/2007/05/19/ufo-balloons-what-are-they/ for more details, from a previous article).

However, as i have said before, i am not sure what value they are to any UFO research.

Dad-of-two, Andrew Freke, an amateur pilot for more than 15 years, spotted the bright orange lights flying above his Solihull home while he was smoking a cigarette at about 11pm on Christmas Eve.

At first he believed it was simply an aeroplane from nearby Birmingham Airport but he quickly dismissed the idea because the three pairs of lights were silently flying in a zig-zag pattern at about 150 miles-per-hour.

Officials from nearby Birmingham Airport confirmed they had no aircraft matching the description in the area on Christmas Eve.

After the New Year’s countdown at around ten past midnight I went outside with my brother and we saw these strange bright orange glowing objects in the sky.

Using the clues in the statement, can you employ your knowledge of New Year’s traditions to work out what the credulous fellow might have seen? It turns out, would you believe, that some celebratory pyrotechnic might have been the cause ” (extract from article).

The Sun “ K.O. UFOs

Nick Pope — who worked on the Ministry of Defence’s UFO desk for three years — revealed the rules of engagement for the first time.

He claimed RAF pilots had fired at UFOs on several occasions — but failed to bring them down.

He added: “We know of cases where the order has been given to shoot down — with little effect to the UFO.”

Mr Pope said the rules of engagement were drawn up after dozens of close encounters with suspect craft in British airspace.

RAF attacks on UFOs were “not automatic but happen when something in our airspace is deemed to be a threat” ” (extract from article). I am an ex pilot 52 years of age.

I was staying at my brothers house for a week over New Year, on 1st January 2009, location, Washington, Tyne & Wear, UK. At about 00:40h I went into the rear garden for a cigarette when I looked up I saw two bright oval shaped orange lights, heading in an south easterly direction, these were not Chinese balloons, helicopters, or fixed wing aircraft, the orange lights were steady and I discounted the possibility of military jet afterburners, the height of these UFO´s I would estimate at between 4000 and 7000 ft as they were travelling just below the cloud base, both UFO´s were maintaining the same speed, the second UFO flying behind and to the left of the leading UFO in the 8 o clock position, this second UFO accelerated to come alongside the first UFO, they both travelled together for a few seconds, then the leading UFO accelerated for a few seconds and then stopped, it seemed to hover and then accelerated vertically, as it travelled vertically through the cloud the orange glow could be seen to slowly disappear. The second UFO then travelled to the exact same spot as where the first UFO went vertical and then did the same, again the orange glow gradually disappeared through the cloud.

This was also witnessed by my partner and another member of my family living 1.5 miles away. The orange lights or glow looked like the typical orange colour of street lamps as seen from a distance.

on wednesday the 28th september a friend knocked on my window and told me to come outside to look at sumthing in the sky. It was an orange, yellow and red diamond shape which was moving at speed from right to left,it was really bright at first. It then seemed to slow down and hang in the sky for about 20 seconds and then it moved upwards to a higher altitude until the light of the object had faded then dissapeared. There were five other people that also witnessed this.

Literally three hours ago, I had went into my back garden for a quick ciggie and had spotted something. Below is a direct copy of an email I have sent to a website in order to establish if anyone else in the area may have spotted the same thing. I am really surprised the amount of people on this page with a discription so utterly similiar to what I had just seen :

I have always had a massive interest in the UFOs, as I believe that if Earth is the only planet in the universe with life, then the universe is rather lonely. A couple of years ago, there was a “mass-sighting” over Belfast Lough, which consisted of several lights in the sky making un-natural patterns. I was deeply disappointed to miss such an event, and thought that I would never have the same chance again.

However, literally a couple of hours ago, I went out into my back garden to grab a quick ciggie. Normally if it is a cloudless night, I will look up at the stars, as in all honesty, in darkness my back garden is just as interesting to look at as it is in light. However, after only being out for a couple of minutes, I had spotted a light over in the distance. I presumed it was first of all a plane with it’s lights on at night, but as it seemed to come closer, I started to think it was a plane on fire, as the sheer brightness, matched with the orange/yellow colour of a fire glowed from it. Although after watching it for a few seconds more, I do not believe this was so. It closely resembled a diamond shape, but I could only describe as the colour that shone from it, maybe the diamond shape was an aura of light around this object. I did pull my mobile phone out to take a picture, however I am afraid due to the age of my phone, the picture did not come out at all.

As soon as I had thought the object was possibly a UFO, I quickly returned to my kitchen and rang up one of my friends to ask them to look out in the same direction, but by the time I had returned to the garden, the object seemed to be fading. I assumed it was going the opposite direction, but the speed at which it seemd to shrink into the distance was immense. I was too late in asking my friend to look for this object, but I shall be checking my local papers in the next day or two, seeing whether anyone else has seen this. I certainly hope someone has managed to take a picture, as Ihave to admit I was very excited at what I had witnessed. (The length of time the object had been in the sky leads me to believe that it was not a flare from the coast, as it hung in the same location for such a long period of time, without falling).

I have only now started scouring the Internet, and have come across http://www.nuforc.org/
I have also recorded these following details, the time is as accurate as I can guess, give or take five minutes either way. I look foward to any reply, although I understand you must receive many letters from people with similiar stories, but I would ask if there is a chance you could let me know if anyone else may contact you regarding the following:

    22:40 – 22:45 Saturday 18th April

UFO? – Orange/yellow colour, like fire, in the direction the Belfast Lough points toward the mainland.
Rough Diamond shape, though may be an aura rather than the object’s actual shape. 3-5 minutes sighting.

Thank you in advance for any reply,

I have just had a sighting of three red lights flying in formation over Nottingham and a fourth joining the other three, three minutes later, they all moved behind a dark cloud and dissapeared. I have been interested in UFO’s since seeing one close up over the M1 motorway in the 1970’s. It was the size of the roundabout juntion and had a large oblong red light pulsating around in a huge circle

My neighbours and I were having a BBQ last night and we all (4 adults and 3 children) saw what looked like a UFO in the sky. It was Orange is colour and there was no noise. I seemed to move and was in the sky for about an hour. Does anyone know if this could have been a chinese lantern or was it a UFO. We have a picture of it but it just looks like an orange blob/light. We live at Salendine Nook, Huddersfield and looked like it was hovering above Ainley Top right over to Scammonden Damm. 5th July 2009
